Fantasy Art Backgrounds
My creating process involves a personal journey made of furtive impressions and elusive thoughts or feelings from deep within. With the combined magic of memory, association and imagination, ideas and visions flow intuitively along the path.
I think of my art as visual poetry, as a glimpse into my soul. Sharing my creations is an invitation for viewers to pause and explore their own inner landscape.
Statement
I enjoy creating eye-catching pictures that blend vagueness and subtle details with sharpness and contrasts.
My representational creations often echo some of my favorite themes in science-fiction & fantasy literature, and also reflect my interest in philosophy and metaphysics. Addressing the subconscious and the imagination, I combine hyperrealism and surrealism to form unusual scenes that broaden the notion of reality and blur its boundaries.
My abstract work is about composing distinctive and stimulating designs where beauty lies in harmony and balance. I use mostly fractal* imagery because I am drawn to its immediate visual impact and to the game of exploration it involves. As I play endlessly with shapes and textures, colors and tones, movement and light, I focus on the aesthetic rhythm that will unite elements into compelling visual melodies.
*Note: Fractal geometry is a branch of mathematics that describes complex shapes found in nature. Fractal images are the visualization of a mathematical object characterized by self-similarity across different scales. Each fractal is a virtual universe featuring infinitely intricate and detailed designs.
Background
I am a self-taught visual artist. Reading, drawing and painting were part of my everyday life as a child. Later I found a growing interest in photography, and eventually came across the world of digital art. The idea of integrating modern technology and traditional media immediately appealed to me.
My creations reflect a variety of cultural influences from my European and American background. I was born in Grenoble and grew up living in various regions of France, occasionally visiting neighbor countries. In 1999 I came to the United States and spent 7 years in the Midwest, then moved to Massachusetts, where I currently reside with my family.
